I don't like Magnolia but it's probably Tom Cruise's best role, he could have easily won for it as well. Michael Caine winning that award for that movie is a complete and utter joke. It's completely forgettable performance in a literal who movie.

I think this is probably M. Night’s best movie, but I really liked Lady in the Water, although even I admit that it is a too long and needs a good editing. It’s a very nice “take” on the classic “fairy tale.”

Based on the books upon your shelf, read The Jesus Insident - not what you might think, I should mention it's the second in a trilogy. BTW, both actors had huge range, all of them did actually. The lead was Henry Fonda; Once Upon A Time In The West, for his villain. To Kill A Mocking Bird (Gregory Peck) is the best on the list

One of my all-time favorite movies. Maybe even my _FAVORITE._ The only movie I might rate above this one, in terms of likability, is "An American Werewolf in London". Check it.

Toni Collette is the secret sauce of th8s movie. She is so good, and easily overlooked.

This came out when movies were only in theaters. It did great box office because everyone had to go back a second time after seeing the ending.

At the little girl's funeral, 2 guests were talking and one says that her father died of cancer but can't imagine loosing a child. So it that really had nothing to do with the story, it was just for atmosphere.

Bruce Willis said about the movie. That Hailey Joel Osmant was the most professional actor that he's ever worked with. He Hailey would go off to a quiet corner just before a scene and become the character. Fun Fact: M. Night" Shyamalan the films award winning Director is actually in the movie. He played the Doctor at the hospital who was talking with Coals Mom.

No matter how often you watch this movie, you always think that it's the best movie you've ever seen - even if you've seen better in other genres. It will never grow old. Always watchable. Willis proved that he could actually ACT. Haley Joel Osment is probably the finest 'child' actor ever (I thought he was brilliant when he was even younger in Forest Gump). Thank you for posting.

What I love about this movie is that you go in expecting a scary story about ghosts, but you actuallly get 2 beautiful, moving love stories between a husband and wife and a mother and son.

I love black and white movies because they’re generally more focused on story and writing. And that’s what I want from a movie. Scenic vistas from drone footage and awesome cg effects are great, but I would much rather have a tight story with crisp dialogue. And while there are definitely modern movies that do that, there are more older movies with those elements because they didn’t have the fancy technology we have now. So they had to be laser focused on scripts and sets and actors. Casablanca, even older than this movie, is my all time favorite.

I've heard people say the white streaks in both their hair is because of the constant fear they're in. Sounds plausible.

Hi Verowak, Thanks for the review. I hope this proves what a terrific actress that Toni Collette is. Please watch the horror film 'Inherited', which has many layers and facets to it as a film, as it also exhibits what a brilliant actress she is.

The movie is full of totally remote improbabilities, with Forrest being both present for and influencing major events in US history. But that's a part of the appeal. He has no idea he did such things, he simply remains true to himself, and his innate goodness makes him one of the most lovable characters in movie history. His steadfast love for Jenny eventually leads to her own redemption and the child they share becomes Forrest's complete focus after he loses her.

Fyi the doctor that thought mom was hurting her son was played by M. Knight Shamalan. It is so fun o watch this film with reactors that have not seen it before. great film.

A very young Donnie Wahlberg does a great job with a short but important scene as Vincent Grey. Of course, remarkable acting by Osmond and Collette. In the theater my then g/f and I picked up the twist at the anniversary dinner but most folks seemed to be fooled til the reveal.

If you'd like to see Bruce in yet another part of his acting range, I highly recommend the films "Red" and "Red 2"

Helping ghosts all the time is still pretty inconvenient, and most ghosts lack the financial means to reimburse your travel expenses and whatnot. Maybe 1 in 50 say they buried treasure, but it usually turns out to be weed.
